Here's the photo of the day depicting the ongoing theme for this weekend.
A. had a rough night last and not wanting to do much today. She fell asleep at 3:00 this afternoon and is STILL asleep at 9:20 pm! Hopefully she'll wake up in the morning healthy and full of energy.

My side kick

I don't want to put up a 'sick' picture for today, so I'm posting a picture that Grandpa took when he was here. I love it!
We went to the doctor today and she has croup. He gave us steroids in case we needed it this afternoon or tonight. We've been through this before, so we know the routine.

Also, yes I've noticed that I've had 3 posts in a row with H. in them. I'm not leaving you out "Noops" (A's nickname)! I've got your fair share of posts coming up.

Science Fair 2010

Here's a picture that Dad snapped of H. this evening at the 'exhibition'. Way to go, H! We're proud of you! (A. was running a fever of 103 all day today, so she and I had to stay home. I'm sure she's fine, but I'll take her to the doctor in the a.m. to check it out before we hit the weekend.)

His favorite 'spot'

H has always raced his cars on this long window sill downstairs. ALWAYS. He's done it since he was at least 2. I can't paint over it because I kind of like how worn it is. It reminds me of him.

Kind of creepy (both the ad and the distortion on my picture.) But hey,who can resist owning a "bowl full of happiness"?
(Click on the ad picture to read the whole description...come on, you know you want to. It's particularly weird.)

This picture was actually from a few months ago because my camera battery died this afternoon and needed recharging. I'm officially starting a 'project 365', where you post a picture everyday for a year. (That is sooooooo 2004, I know.) For me, blogging needs to be routine. I tried doing a post at least once every 3 days and that did NOT work out well. It was too easy to slip out of the habit! I'm ready to get back into it again. I enjoy putting together the visual diary of our family life. I hope the kids will get a kick out of it when they're older.

Burned in my brain

I imagine him at 22 still wearing his superman outfit, reading books on the floor before bed. It's just what he does.

jump pt. 2

jump....jump

The kids spotted this contraption when they were with me the day I needed to make a return to a store. I promised them that we'd come back and do it. So today we did! They both loved it!

Boom, Splat, Kablooey

R's sister (thanks Aunt K!) gave HZ a neat little book entitled "Boom, splat, kablooey" that came with a couple of contraptions to do a few experiments. We had a fun time trying out everything....and thanks to Grandpa for taking all of the pictures! OOops, the pictures ended up in "Boom, Kablooey, splat" order. Oh well!

1) Boom..........vinegar and soda in a closed plastic container......such concentration!

2) My turn....I look so composed yet spazy, while my husband holding a fish net (why?) looks more than a bit tentative about this process.

Oh yeah, the fish tank is out b/c HZ killed 2 fish by giving them an extra "snack" (ahem, 1/2 a can of fish food) while mommy wasn't looking.

3) Kablooey..................B boys and M kids watching the prep for 'mentos in a diet soda bottle' experiment.

4) 3...2....1.............SUCCESS on the third try ( :
The "geyser" went straight up approximately 12 feet in the air.

I'm kidding.

It was impressive though.

5) And the "splat". Try microwaving soap. This is what you'll get!

Christmas 2009

Grandpa came down from New York to spend the holidays with us. We had a fantastic time! He took great pictures which I downloaded and will be posting soon.
It has been COLD here. 13 degrees. It NEVER gets that cold! Last night we got the fireplace going, roasted marshmallows for s'mores, and watched a family movie (Jumanji). The kids enjoyed it and want to do it again soon!
