Flying

I think the slideshow speaks for itself!

Tastes like cow feathers

That's what Aubin said about her 1/2 hour-cool-not-ice cold milk this afternoon. What can I say. I don't blame the child as I despise milk. So there you go....tastes like cow feathers to me too, Aubin!

Random kid topic #2:
Hayden believes he can fly. Seriously. Just ask him. He'll spread out his arms (which he calls wings) flaps like a crazy person, runs, and leaps onto the bed/couch/etc. The nanosecond that he's "airborne" is proof that he's "flying". ("SEE mom?!") Well, it's been two weeks of this and it's driving me CRAZY. The thumping, bed shaking, cushion flopping drives me nuts. I told him no more flying and he said, "But MOM! I've got to fly! I don't like to be on LAND!" So since I hated to rain on his Peter Pan parade, I let him "fly" on his crash mat (two over stuffed bean bags in the playroom).

Blastoff

We needed adventure in our lives! We decided to launch rockets today at a nearby park. Good times. The last picture is of Aubin at the same park freaking out about a little boy with a mohawk. (Yes, a mohawk.) Click on the picture for a closer look.

Breezy

That's about it in terms of what we got from Ike. We were hoping to get a little rain, but missed out by 2 counties to the east. All of my family down in the Houston area are ok.

Hayden is doing much better today, by the way. Hooray for antibiotics.

Ike's sunset in Austin

Not too exciting of a picture, I know, but you can kind of see the outer cloud bands of Ike coming in. It's Ike CRAZINESS out there in town. Incoming traffic, grocery stores, etc. I can't imagine what it's like in the Houston area right now. Don't blow away Aunt Jessica! Seriously, thoughts and prayers to friends and family in that area. Tomorrow we are suppose to have tropical storm force winds, a bit of rain, but nothing too bad. We'll be on the "dry" side of the storm.

Well, things are quite normal here. Hayden's running a 102 temp due to bronchitis. He's on antibiotics (z-pack) and should be feeling better soon. Like I said, this has become normal for us! Whatever the 'boy in the bubble' had, I think my kids have it!

Cupcake party

Hayden is hiding behind the cute girl in pink (right hand corner). (She is also the daughter of Aubin's teacher.) Today his class celebrated his birthday. Since his b-day falls right before the beginning of school, his teacher gave us a choice to party it up now or wait until the end of school with the other summer birthdays. Easy choice! Cupcake parties are always better sooner rather than later!
In classic Hayden fashion, H promptly let his teacher know this morning that he did NOT want people to sing the happy birthday song. I think his classmates were thrilled to eat their cupcakes right away and not wait the 20 seconds it takes to sing a song. Way to work the social scene, Hayden! Winning friends, influencing people. Dale Carnegie would be proud.

T.M.I.

This next little blurb is dedicated to my friend, 'lil mama who has a 5+ month old.
So I thought I was DONE with the spewing, snotting, and other kiddie-fluid filled fun.
Oh no.
No, no, no, no.
The next day Aubin was perky and ready to go see her friends at preschool. She had a great day, but had a random P.E. The school has us send a change of clothes in case that happens, no big deal. EXCEPT Aubin was in someone else's clean clothes which meant that another mom got the smelly grocery bag of Aubin's old clothes. Yep, that mom had already left the building. Ewww.

It gets better.

That night the kids were running around buck naked while I was running water for bath time. I hear an "Uh-oh" from Hayden and SOMEHOW in 45 seconds TOPS found a huge bottle of Elmer's glue (that I didn't know we even HAD) and dropped it in the guest bathroom toilet. Which he had just peed in. So while we were fishing that out and trashing it, I hear a "Mommmmmmm!" from Aubin. I run into the master bathroom to find that she had randomly thrown up all over the floor. She said, "I just threwed up a wittle bit". Nothing else to do but laugh at that point.

Not done.

I had a long awaited doctor appointment today and I'm set for surgery on the 22nd of this month for two hernia repairs and a hysterectomy....H's labor was too rough on the old body, but worth it of course!

I plan on posting pictures soon.....this blog is beginning to be a snooze fest with the Miles' medical mysteries!

Whew.

Aubin had a GREAT day today. She didn't cry once about her throat.....AMAZING! It's 8:30p.m.......no one is screaming, snotting, spewing or febrile. In fact, they are both asleep in their own beds. How did that happen? I don't know what to do with myself!
Oh yeah, laundry. ( :

Tired mom and dad.

Aubin's had quite a bit of throat pain especially at night. She had a follow up with the ENT who said there was a lot of scabbing on her throat, which is the cause of her pain. He was hoping that by the end of the weekend she'll turn it around. Also, 2 nights ago Hayden came down with a nasty cold and let's just say he's not a quiet patient poor thing. The icing on the cake is that Aubin has now caught Hayden's cold this evening so another action packed night ahead for sure.

First day of Preschool

What a difference a year makes! Hayden was excited about the first day of school today AND to wear his new "indy" car shirt. He insisted on pooching out his belly so I could get it in the photo. I tried to comb and style his hair this morning, but he smashed it down like a Beatles's 1960 'do and said "Mom! This is cool. I look cool this way."
I'm keeping Aubin home this week, of course. She'll start next Tuesday.

August 30th....Happy Birthday Hayden!

I'm just downloading these pictures of Hayden's big day. He's 5 years old! He had a happy birthday. I stayed home with Aubin while he met his friends at the "jumpy place". We had birthday cake and lots of ice cream at home so that Aubin could celebrate too. H & A didn't like the "happy birthday" song too much. Can you tell?
Later that afternoon, Rick took Hayden to my Great Aunt and Uncle's 50th wedding anniversary while I stayed home with Aubin. They had a great time! Aubin and I enjoyed watching Little Mermaid....again. ( : This picture is of my cousin's 2 little boys who are H & A's age. They are simply adorable. Look! They are all wearing matching blue shirts (unplanned).

Rick and Hayden playing with a Lego set for the first time.

Side note: Aubin is doing wonderful. She's down to twice a day on her pain meds and in good spirits. She looks so healthy, doesn't she?
Oh yeah, and I know I misspelled trooper last time....ooops.
