Look Ma, no training wheels!

Today R and H went to the track learn how to ride a bike without
training wheels. It was the perfect place, really. Riding into a football field of grass for a crash landing or emergency "dismount" comes in handy.
After a few seconds (!) of R running behind H with his hand on the seat, our little tyke announced "Ok, you can let go!" and off he went.
We all went back to the track as a family later in the afternoon and then celebrated the big event with ice cream.

Did I mention that it was a thousand degrees outside today?

Kite day '09

These pictures are from Grandpa's visit in March. He was a good sport about sticking around for kite day and letting me take 1/2 a million photos. Kites, kids, and Grandparents make a blogger giddy with excitement (only then to become sidetracked and post the pictures 3 months later!) HA!

About the pictures: it was very sunny that day and I couldn't get the colors to come out right, even later on with photoshop. I liked the lines of these photos and so I went wtih the black/white/sepia.

Watch out...tooth fairy on the 'loose'

Time flies

I caught a nasty bug at school a week and a half ago that kicked my booty and then got passed down to the kids. It's been quite a while since we've been sick, so I can't complain. Everyone was feeling better today and so we went to the zoo with my mother and grandfather. We had a great time. It was nice to get out of the house and enjoy the day! I've got great pictures to share, especially ones of kite day with Grandpa a while back. However, they will have to wait a bit longer because it's time for some z's tonight.

Texas Navy Admiral

We went to the coast yesterday to see my Grandfather inducted as an admiral into the Texas Navy. We had a great trip and enjoyed the ceremony! Congratulations Granddad!
